WATER EVERYWHERE

I have been taking showers. Yup. Showers.

I have a special shampoo that's only for puppies with itchy skin. That's me. My man takes me into the shower with him and lathers me up. He has a hose that is very gentle and the water is very warm. I like it. After he lathers me up he rinses me off and I am squeaky clean. (I was never dirty in the first place). When my man does the lathering and rinsing my lady hands me treats. I like that. A lot.

A nice lady came to the house the other night and sat with my people and they talked and talked and talked. Then the nice lady had me walk next to her and gave me treats. She did it over and over and I walked next to her over and over and got treats over and over.

Then I sat on the floor with my man and she took out clippers!!! Clippers!!! YIKES. I wasn't liking the look of this. I squirmed but no luck. He was really holding on tight. She clipped my toenails. It really wasn't so bad. She didn't hurt me and I got a treat.

Humans are funny. They give me treats for EVERYTHING.

This is  my lady. I can't go on the furniture (grin, I do sometimes) so she sat with me on my blanket and let me go to sleep on her. She is warm and her hands are very gentle when they stroke me. I like her.

I am becoming very brave about going outside all alone. We have squirrels back there. The squirrels run around my yard. So now I chase them. My humans leave the door open and don't force me to go out. I put one foot on the snow, give a sniff, then off I go. I run after those squirrels but they always disappear. I can't find them. I search the yard but nope. They are gone.

So Much To Tell You

I have been in my new home for three weeks now. It feels like I have been here for such a long time. I have been busy, busy, busy. Here is what I have accomplished in my three weeks:

1.  I visited the vet. Boy were they nice. They took my picture. They took me into a room with my people and looked me over. Seems I am doing pretty darned good.

2.  I chewed up a stick that a man uses for drumming. Guess my people will  have to buy him a new one.

One of these sticks is not like the other. Fuzzy Soft stuff was easy to rip.

3.  I chewed up two pens. Didn't get ink on me or on anything else.

4.  I ripped my duck to shreds. No pictures. I guess the thing didn't last long enough. But, and here's the truth. It had a squeaker in it and I just had to get it out.

5.  I like chasing squirrels. They come into my backyard and I try to chase them out. Regarding the squirrel chasing. It's not that much fun  because it's very, very cold here and I don't much like going out. One day I flew out the door at break neck speed to chase a squirrel. Turned out to be a big leaf blowing around. I felt pretty silly so I grabbed a twig and ran with it and brought it into the house. It too disappeared.

6.  I had visitors. A couple of people came over and sat at the dinner table with my people. They bought me a toy to play with. An elephant. He used to have a long nose. It's gone now.
Oops. Where did his nose go. Hee hee

Those are the other pieces I removed from the elephant. I haven't seen him since my lady put him in the disappearing black bin in the kitchen.

The deadly black bin.
Things that go into that black bin never come out. I don't know where it goes but I sure miss my duck pieces and my elephant pieces.

I have this all to myself.
This is my own personal play area. Too bad it's also my own personal bathroom 'cause it's been so cold, I have learned how to go out there by myself without coaxing. All I do is put my nose out the door and slowly put my front feet on the snow. Then I dash like blazes to my spot and do it. Even though it's cold out there sometimes I can't help it. I do zoomies. I found a great stick the other day and ran around with it. That too went into the magical disappearing bin.
Don't I look cozy and angelic?
Here I am sleeping on my bed in front of the fireplace. In the back you can see my man. He pretends to read. But, we know he's sleeping too. Oh that book. The one in his hand. Chewed it up, I did, when he wasn't looking.

I bet that ends up in the magic black bin.

There is a strange thing about my people. They don't like me on top of the chairs and sofas. But, how nice is he. He sat on my dog bed with me and we both had, yes you guessed it, another nap.

Not on the furniture? I forgot for a second.

Here I am looking out of the window at the street. I was watching cars go by when, suddenly, one came into the driveway. I was pretty excited I can tell you. But not as excited as when I saw who got out of the car. It was my BFF Gigi. GIGI CAME BACK TO PLAY WITH ME.

Our ladies talk while Gigi and I play and run and tumble and just enjoy the snow. They keep using words like "tired" "sleep well tonight" "burn off energy". They should run in the snow too.
All in all I have been very busy. But it's not all fun and games here. I do learn time with the words 'sit', 'down', 'stay'.  Then I get treats and pats and strokes. I like that a lot.

So, until next time. This is me, Scarlett, saying watch out for more of my adventures.

19 January 2019

Me again. So much to tell you. So much fun. It's only been a week. One short week and I feel like I've been here all my life.

Remember my first night here? Remember I told you I slept until they woke up. It Worked!! They are going to keep me forever.

Guess what? I haven't done it again. Something wakes me up every morning at 3:30 and tells me I have to pee pee. They take me outside into the yard and I do my pee pee but they don't look really happy. Their hair is all sticking up and they are groggy. But, a girl's gotta' do what a girl's gotta' do.

My lady took me for a walk. Boy oh boy. So many smells and everything was new. We didn't go far. We went home after just a few minutes and she put the leash away. Forever.

Next day they put this thing on my nose. Off we go, walking. What??? I can't smell stuff? What??? I can't walk from side to side and back again? What??? I have to walk in a straight line with my head up??? Well, I wasn't very fond of that but we did walk much longer. More fun and even though it's cold, I have the nifty pink coat.

I am walking exactly how they want me to. I am pretty smart.

Another day we went farther. This time with the lady and she took me into a store. Yup. A store. I sat in a very pretty pose and guess what? A treat!! They gave me a treat!! Walking is going to be so much fun.

Now then. Let's talk about my play date. It was the best day of my WHOLE life. Gigi came over with her lady and, honestly, we loved each other the second she came through the door. We wanted to play right there in the house. People are funny about things like that. Out we went to MY back yard and the fun started. Gigi is smaller than me. But, boy can she run. We ran. We leaped. I got her down. We did zoomies. We did this for what people call a half an hour. Cold? Sure. We're in Ontario and it's winter but we didn't care. We had so much fun. I really like Gigi.

So far, I have had a play date with my BFF Gigi. I walk in straight lines without pulling and sniffing. I have been allowed into THREE stores. And, one day I spent the morning with my man in an office. He sat at a desk and did stuff and I looked out the window at the street below.

We play a game. It's called Give Treats To Scarlett. My favourite. I sit the second the treats come out. My lady has taught me something called Down. Pretty weird at first. I sit. Nothing. No treat. She pulls MY treat along the ground. I follow. Finally, I was frustrated so just laid down. Bingo. Who knew? I got the treat. We do this every day now. And I remember it every time.

Today it is so cold outside that we are staying indoors all day. So far I have investigated a swiffer and chased a vacuum cleaner. The vacuum kept attacking me but I was very brave and just stood up to it.

Tonight I am meeting some new people. They are friends so they will probably be my friends too. They are coming here to have dinner with my people. It's not Gigi - darn - just people.

15 January 2019

Scarlett is my name, Pride Rock Scarlett, to be exact. But I just get called Scarlett or sweetheart. I'm seven and a half months old and 55 lbs of curiosity and fun. I used to live with some people but it didn't work out so here I am now living with my two people, my humans, who look after me. We took a long car ride, with me all snug and safe in my kennel.

I have only been here a couple of days, but, so far, so good. I slept like a baby my first night here and didn't even wake them up once.

There I am, eating on my own personal place mat.

They have a big back yard and I get to run out there. I run back and forth, up and down and back again. It's fun. I don't even mind the snow. I got to wear a coat. I look quite stunning in this coat, if I do say so myself.

There I am. Pretty swish, don't you think?

Some of the things I don't like. NO sleeping on the bed. Yikes. But I give it my best shot. NO getting up on the furniture. Yikes, again. I keep trying though.

Some of the things I do like. HIM. Here he is letting me cuddle him on the couch when they came to the house I was born in to take me home.

Kind of cruel, don't you think? Not letting me on the couch? I guess I will just make myself adorable all the time and maybe they will let me. I do have a comfy doggy bed right in front of the fire place. That's a pretty good second choice and they do sit with me and stroke me a lot.
There I am. Little old me on the big comfy bed in front of the fire.

Oh, yes. They did get me a whole bunch of toys to chew on. Some of them make noises and that's a lot of fun. Swinging the toy in the air and running after it makes them laugh so it must be good.

GOOD NEWS: I have a play date. A young lady by the name of GIGI is coming over with her human to run around our big back yard in a couple of days. I will certainly let you know how that works out.
